A pop of colour

For years I’ve been into make-up but one thing I never do is leave my comfort zone. I’m very particular on what colours and techniques I like on my face so today I thought I’d do something a little different. I was convinced to buy this bright green eye pencil the other day, thinking I’d never use it, but I decided to give it a go. So here is a written tutorial of this bright summery look!

I had washed my face in the shower and then applied my daily moisturiser, Nivea I think mine is. I then used two primers, one was the NYX Pore Filler that I used to cover the pores beside my nose, and then my Max Factor Face Finity Primer for the rest of my face. The NYX product is new so haven’t got much experience with it yet except it does reduce my pores. The other primer keeps my make-up on all day!

For foundation I used my trusted Estee Lauder Double Wear in 1W1 Bone, and blended it with my Real Techniques beauty blender. I only wear this when I’m going out or need my make-up to last all day because it’s a great coverage and smooths out my skin. To team with that I also used the Estee Lauder Double Wear concealer in 1W Light (warm). Again it’s a good full coverage concealer and covers all my blemishes. To set that I used the NYX HD Finishing Powder with a powder brush all over my face.

For my eyebrows I used the NYX Tame and Fame in Espresso, with my NYX 18 brush. This double sided brush is great, it comes with an angled side and also a brush for my eyebrows. I love the pomade too, it glides on easily and builds just the right amount of colour. To prime my lids I used the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion and blended with a small brush.

To start with my eyes, I used the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette. I covered my lid in Tempera first and then used Warm Taupe and Raw Sienna on the crease. Then I used my new gorgeous shimmery NYX shadow in Rose Dust all over my lid, using a setting spray on my Morphe M422 brush to make the colour brighter. Using the Morphe 35N palette I chose some darker browns for the outer corner of my crease and used the Morphe M505 blending brush to blend everything together. And then I used the lightest shade in my MUA palette Fire Vixen to highlight the inner corners of my eyes.

Then I used my new NYX Slide On, Glide On eyeliner in Esmerelda. It was so smooth to apply on my water line and just on my lash line and was easy to then blend out. I lined my top lashes with the MeMeMe eyeliner in Clay and blended it to make it smokey. For lashes I used the Red Cherry pair in #43 Stevi and applied them with DUO glue. Then I used the Collection Fast Stroke Defining Last Mascara on my top and bottom lashes.

I used the Makeup Revolution Ultra Sculpt and Contour Kit in Ultra Light/Medium, and applied it with a contour brush I actually bought for £1 from the pound shop! And it’s one of my favourite brushes! I bronzed my face with my MUA one in Sunkissed Bronze, which again was only £1 but one of my faves! I used the Real Techniques power brush to apply that. For blusher I used an MUA one in Lolly, which I’m also pretty sure was just £1, with my NYX 08 brush.

I used two different highlighters, the Makeup Revolution Ultra Pro Glow which has 8 different shades and I’m in love with all of them! I used a mixture of the lightest 3 on my cheekbones. I then used a small amount of the Makeup Revolution Baked Highlighter in Golden Lights over the top, and used this on a small brush to highlight my brow bone, nose and cupids bow.

As for my ‘freckles’ I used the same MeMeMe eyeliner in Clay that I’d used on my eyes. I saw this trend a while ago and thought it was a bit weird if I’m being honest but I wanted to try it and see how I looked. It’s weird how much a few freckles can change your whole appearance. I have a lot of beauty spots already so I just used the pencil to put little dots on my cheeks and over my nose. I then used my beauty blender to pat them into my face, making them a bit more subtle. I love the overall look it’s given me though!

And finally for my lipstick I used the NYX Matte Liner in Sandstorm and the NYX Liquid Suede lipstick in Sandstorm too. This is my new favourite nude! With a quick spray of my NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray, I was finished with my look!

I think it’s great to explore with makeup and leave your comfort zone every once in a while, I loved having that little pop of green on my face and I think it made such a difference. I’ll definitely be experimenting with more colours in the near future!

Hope you enjoyed this look and thank you for reading!
