Last week I had the most amazing opportunity to stay at the 5* Anantara resort in Mai Khao, Phuket. We stayed in the vacation club courtesy of Skye’s parents, for my birthday, which I’m so thankful for!
We arrived in Phuket quite late on the Tuesday evening but they were still so accommodating, getting us settled in straight away. You get a complimentary welcome drink too which tastes like flowers! We got a golf buggy to our room, which was in a block of apartments not far from the pool.
When we got into our room I was amazed by the scale and luxury of the room! I’ll start off by showing you some of the photos I took of the room. We were in a two bedroom suite.
Here is the kitchen and the living room. The kitchen was enormous and had everything you needed to cook your own food. It had plenty of pots, pans and cutlery and had a microwave, hob, toaster and kettle. They also keep two large bottles of water in your fridge each day. There was also a huge dining room table complete with 6 chairs, because you could easily fit 6 people in this room. And in the living room there was a massive L-shaped couch that was super comfy and a tv. We plugged our HDMI cable into the back and watched films off my laptop.
The first bedroom as you walk in is a twin room with two single beds, a big wardrobe and a tv on the wall. Coming off that room is their own bathroom with two sinks, a toilet and a shower. This room was gorgeous but we didn’t actually go in it much because we didn’t need to!
The master bedroom was so nice! There was a huge bed, which is one of the comfiest beds I’ve ever slept in! It also has a tv which we didn’t use, because we used the one in the living room instead. You also get complimentary dressing gowns and slippers which is pretty cool.
But my favourite room in the apartment was the master bathroom. It had a huge bath with a blue light above it that was great for ambience! There were also two sinks again, one for me and one for Skye, and a separate little bit with a shower and one with a toilet. The view was lovely too, over looking the whole of the resort.
Also on the resort was a lovely pool with a pool bar, a gym and children’s club and two different restaurants. We ate out each time so couldn’t really give any recommendations.

We stayed in the Vacation club but next door was the other hotel, which was on Mai Khao beach. We went there as we were leaving and it’s such a beautiful beach!
Cleanliness– 5/5 I’m going to find it hard to fault any part of this place! The cleanliness was top notch and maids came in twice a day to make sure our room was in tip top shape!
Location– 4/5 The only thing that isn’t great with this hotel is the location. It’s in the very North of Phuket and great if you plan on spending all your time in the hotel but we wanted to explore so without a car to travel South you will be paying a lot in taxis to get you there and back!
Bed– 5/5 The bed was so huge and comfy! One of the things I love about Anantara beds is the thick, heavy duvet!
Bathroom– 6/5 The bathroom was one of my favourite things about the whole place and the bath was unbelievable.
Pool Area– 5/5 The pool area was always spotless and luckily wasn’t very busy when we were there.
Hospitality– 5/5 The staff at Anantara are literally the best, they go above and beyond to help you with any problems you have and always say hello to you. They also gave me a piece of birthday cake and a card! It was lovely!
Breakfast– 4/5 We didn’t have breakfast included with us but the kitchen has all the amenities you need to cook whatever you like!
Price– 5/5 Luckily this room was a present for my birthday as the price of this resort is way out of our budget. You really are paying for the luxurious brand though and I think it’s well worth the money it costs!
We had such an amazing stay at Anantara Mai Khao Vacation Club and can’t wait to go back to Phuket!
