Author Review- Jo Watson ‘Destination Love’ Series

I was lucky enough to get a Kindle before coming to Thailand and I wanted to get some great chicklit books for my trip. I originally found Burning Moon by Jo Watson on my kindle and it was only £1.99. The whole premise was about the Burning Moon festival in Thailand so I thought it would be perfect for me! From there I just had to download all of her ‘Destination Love’ series which is about a group of 5 friends and each book follows each of their love lives. Jo was originally a Wattpad author, I used to write on there occasionally, and Burning Moon won a Watty award in 2014!

Burning Moon £1.99 Kindle Edition

Chase your dreams. Dance under the stars. Fall in love at the festival of Burning Moon.

WARNING: Being jilted at the altar in front of 500 wedding guests can lead to irrational behaviour, such as going on your honeymoon to Thailand alone.

On the way to paradise, symptoms may include getting arrested, setting yourself on fire, turning up on a ‘Missing Poster’ and going viral.

Side-effects may include desert island stranding, star gazing and jungle trekking.

Recovery will lead to partying the night away at Burning Moon festival – and falling in love with the person you least expect…

So this was the first book of hers that I read, mainly because it was all about Thailand and I was intrigued! Lilly gets jilted at the altar and decides instead of moping around she’ll go on her honeymoon to Thailand alone. And obviously she meets a guy there, Damien. Lilly’s character is my favourite out of all the girls and she’s such a loveable character, it’s hard not to love her! She always seems to be getting herself into trouble which is hilarious! Damien also seems ‘my type’ even for a fictional character (ladies don’t deny it, we all have crushes on book characters!) I love the fact that I know the places that she’s writing about in Thailand and it makes me want to go to the Burning Moon festival!

Almost a Bride £1.99 Kindle Edition

That moment you catch your boyfriend in bed with another woman and then mistakenly get arrested. #awks

Annie doesn’t want to dwell on the fact that she walked in on her bf wearing nipple clamps on the day he was meant to propose to her. She just wants to move on – cue escaping to a tropical paradise.

Life is dreamy on the beaches of Mauritius, until the nightmarish appearance of her ex and the ‘other woman’. Faced with the enemy, Annie refuses to look like the sad, lonely single she actually is. She needs a decoy – and fast. Enter Chris, a sexy screenwriter who agrees to play her pretend boyfriend.

But as a battle of the exes commences, the white sand, tropical heat and a pina colada (or five) might just be the cocktail for a real romance – and the adventure of a lifetime.

In my opinion this is one of the funniest books in the series. The main girl Annie is hilarious and quite a loud person compared to the other girls. She doesn’t have the best luck in the world, especially when she ends up on the same holiday as her ex and the girl he cheated on her with. She enlists the help of writer Chris to be her decoy boyfriend to save her pride from her ex. It’s quite easy to guess what’s going to happen but it’s a super easy book to read and still the funniest one in the series.

Finding You £1.99 Kindle Edition

When you go to Greece to meet your family but end up snogging your smokin’ hot tour guide #sorrynotsorry

Jane is fed up of being the odd one out in her adoptive family. So in a very un-Jane-like move she books a last-minute ticket to find her birth father – and the real Jane. Armed with the knowledge that he was a tour guide called Dimitri, and multiple boxes of condoms from her mother (#cringe), she sets off.

It turns out that everyone in Greece is called Dimitri, including her very own sexy tour guide, who strikes her a deal. He’ll help if she goes on an adventure with him. The old Jane would have never have risked a holiday romance, but the new Jane has other ideas. As the search for her father commences, she might just find something else entirely…

The girl in this story, Jane, is a control freak that heads to Greece to find her biological family. She runs into a lot of problems but she does find a Greek hottie on the way! She also ends up in Santorini which is one of my bucketlist places to go so I like how she writes about it. This book is a bit different to the others as it is still hilarious but is also quite emotional and tackles a lot of real problems. Overall it’s a lovely book, and makes me want to move to Greece!

After The Rain £0.99 Kindle Edition

Some opposites attract; some rip each other’s clothes off.

Stormy-Rain and Marcus could not be more different: she’s a free-spirited, rainbow-haired hippie; he wears a suit and over-shines his already too-shiny shoes. She believes in auras; he’s governed by logic and doesn’t believe in Fate. But Fate believes in them…

So what happens when their worlds collide – and they are forced to embark on an epic road trip to catch a plane to a wedding on the other side of the world?

The clock is ticking…and they’re seriously ticking each other off. But Stormy and Marcus are about to discover just how thin the line between love and hate really is.

Out of all of the girls in this series I’m the least like Stormy-Rain. She’s into tarot reading and wearing bright colourful clothes. But you still fall in love with her character. This story is a great example of opposites attracting when she has to meet a guy that is well groomed and loves to be in control. Again this is a really funny book, like all of them, and a perfect love story.

The Great Ex-Scape Coming Out Oct 2018

There isn’t anything written about this book on Amazon yet as it hasn’t been released but there was a little extract of it at the end of After the Rain. It follows the life of the last girl in the series Val, and throughout the books you find out she’s in love with her neighbour who doesn’t have the same feelings for her. In the extract she’s getting ready to make a speech at his wedding. That’s all I know but I’m still really excited to read the last book in this series!

Overall I love Jo’s writing style, these are all easy chicklit books to read that make you fall in love with romance all over again. These 5 girls are so loveable and easy to relate to and it’s nice to see them get their happy endings. I highly recommend all of these books if you’re going on holiday, they’re perfect to read on a sunlounger in front of the pool sipping a cocktail! And they’re super cheap if you’ve got a Kindle like me! What’s not to like!?

Let me know if you’ve checked out any of these books before or if you plan on getting any!

Stay Happy!
