31 Days of Halloween 2019, Make-up

Mermaid (27/31)

This is the second mermaid look I’ve done. My favourite look I did in the first year was my mermaid look and I’m still super proud of it but it’s crazy how much I’ve improved. Check out the old one here – Hooked (31/31)!!

To start with I used liquid latex and cotton wool to create the gills on my neck. I also started to make the webbed hands. I used a whiteboard and drew the outline on my hand on it and then layered up liquid latex where I wanted the webs to be on my hands. I waited for it to dry as I did the rest of my look.

I then blocked my eyebrows with glue and powder and painted my face and chest with a mixture of white face paint and the turquoise Snazaroo face paint. I then used some fishnet tights on my face and shoulders to create the fish scales. I used the teal shade from the Morphe 35c palette and then used the Yejida shade from the Juvias Place Magic palette to darken it. And over the top of that I used the silver highlighter from the Makeup Revolution cool glow palette.

For my eyeshadow I used the same shade, Yejida, all over my lid and blended it up over my covered brows. I applied some under my eyes too and then put the Nessychoice lashes on.

I then pulled up the bottom on the ‘gills’ so they looked like they were coming out of my skin. I used the Yejida shade underneath that too to add some shadow. I also added it to my collarbones. For my lips I used the Nyx liquid suede in Jet Set.

I used the gems that I bought cheaply from eBay on my head and a few on my chest. I added some pearls to my cheekbones too that I found in a craft shop.

And for the webbed hand I waited until it was completely dry and pulled it off the whiteboard, making sure I used powder underneath it as I pulled so the latex didn’t stick to itself. I then painted it with purple Snazaroo face paint and added some details. I then stuck it to my hand with liquid latex. I had full movement with this but it was still pretty tricky to do things. I then painted my hand with the turquoise, which is hindsight I would do first! It’s harder after it’s stuck on. I added some details and highlights to my hand and actually painted my nails black with face paint.

And that’s pretty much it! I love how this look turned out and I’d definitely try the webbed hands again in the future, practice makes perfect!

Let me know what you think and don’t forget to check out yesterdays look –

Stay Spooky!

Sarah
